We encourage you to explore our videos from the Quick Facts series, which was created in response to customer requests. This series takes the form of a Q&A, where we answer questions related to mattress or pillow selection and the purchasing process. The collection of questions comes directly from our customers, as well as individuals reaching out to us for advice from our specialists.

In the fourth episode of the series, we answer questions about choosing a mattress for sleeping in a factual and comprehensive way. We discuss why often the same mattress is sold at different prices but under different names and brands, which we find absurd. Additionally, we debunk the myth of the memory foam mattress, which is most commonly encountered.

Can the same mattress be sold at different prices?

Mr. Marek from Warsaw had been searching for a truly good mattress for his bedroom for a while and had read a lot about it. He visited various stores, where he encountered similar observations. In one of the mattress stores, he was offered two mattress models that looked identical from a cross-section perspective. However, they differed in price and brand, which raised his suspicions. Furthermore, the salesperson couldn't explain the difference between them.

The manipulative technique used in the store is quite simple and based on basic psychological mechanisms governing human behavior. In the West, it's called the name game, which means playing with names. In most cases, it involves mattress manufacturers creating special mattress collections for a particular sleep store, and the mattresses inside are the same. However, the prices of these mattresses vary.

Usually, mattress manufacturers take care of their brand and its recognition in the domestic or international market by consistently producing more or fewer mattress models with fixed names. This doesn't fit a large portion of retailers, which created this pathology. As a result of the name game technique, the same mattresses are essentially sold under different names and at different prices. However, the interior of the mattress is not different.

Why is memory foam in the top layer of a mattress a bad idea?

Mr. Aleksander from Piaseczno contacted us, surprised that we don't use memory foam in the top layer of our mattresses. He had visited many mattress stores, and most often, he encountered them configured in this way. Out of curiosity, he asked us who really knows about mattresses here and why.

Considering the number of experts we've engaged in the highly advanced product development process of our exceptional products, and the substantial amount of time devoted to all processes related to design thinking, we are confident in our approach. We look at our mattresses and our other products primarily from the perspective of functionality. Therefore, we always adopt the customer's perspective, not our own. This sets us apart from companies where sales are the primary goal.

In our assessment, memory foam mattresses are sold solely because there is a relatively high demand for them. However, this demand doesn't stem from their functionality but rather from unjustified trends driven by widespread marketing. It takes advantage of the fact that few people look at real reviews of such mattresses, most of which are available on foreign websites. Moreover, consumer awareness, including legal knowledge, is too low. It's easy to sell a memory foam mattress to a customer, even though most of them later try to return it due to overheating or back pain, often without success.

FAQ: Quick Ball (4)

What kind of mattress not to buy?

If you want to ensure your comfort and spinal support, you should avoid buying a memory mattress, which has memory foam in the top layer.

Can a mattress cause back pain?

Yes, a mattress can indeed cause back pain. Most often, the reason is improper body support provided by the mattress's top layers, leading to unnatural spine curvature and improper pressure point distribution. Back pain is frequently caused by having a mattress with memory foam in the top layer.

Who should sleep on a firm mattress?

Only young, slim, and athletic individuals who primarily sleep on their stomach should sleep on a firm mattress. For everyone else, firm mattresses are not suitable. It's a long-standing myth that the firmer the mattress, the better it is for the spine.

What to do with a new mattress?

You can unpack and use a new mattress immediately upon delivery. The mattresses we sell are folded in a semi-circular shape and then packed into a box for shipment. They are ready for immediate use upon delivery.

How often should a mattress be rotated?

Many sellers suggest rotating a mattress every six months, or twice a year. In reality, rotating a mattress doesn't make much sense. A good and functional mattress doesn't require it.
