What is pinotherapy and how does it work?20 czerwca 2025 |
Pinotherapy is a modern form of manual therapy derived from orthopedic medicine and functional neurology, developed by Polish professors. It uses special tools - pins and "kats" - to stimulate specific reflex zones and points on the body. The goal of pinotherapy is to reduce pain, improve muscle tone, mobilize joints, and restore correct movement patterns. The treatment stimulates the nervous system and soft tissues, supporting the body's natural regeneration processes.
Sensations during pinotherapy are individual. The treatment may cause mild discomfort, a feeling of pressure, or localized pain - especially in areas with significant muscle tension or irritated nerve points. However, the procedure should not be extremely painful. Temporary redness, mild swelling, or bruising may occur afterward - which are normal tissue responses.
The cost of pinotherapy sessions varies depending on location and the therapist?s experience. On average, a single session costs between 40 EUR and 80 EUR. Some clinics offer therapy packages at a lower per-session rate.
Major contraindications include: active infections and inflammation, cancer, skin diseases at the treatment site, blood clotting disorders, fresh injuries, fractures and open wounds, pregnancy (especially the first trimester), and epilepsy. A consultation with the therapist beforehand is always recommended to assess the safety of the treatment in each individual case.
Pins and kats are specialized tools used in pinotherapy. Pins resemble small rounded pegs or spikes and are used for applying focused pressure on skin and muscle receptors. Kats are flat, wedge-shaped tools designed for stimulating larger areas or gliding along muscles and tendons. Both are typically made from brass or surgical steel and are completely safe when used properly by a qualified therapist.
