No. A firm mattress is not a good choice for your spine because it does not support its natural curves properly. Instead of stabilizing the body, it forces parts of the spine into an unnatural straight position and leaves key areas, such as the lower back, without sufficient support.
Yes. A mattress that is too firm creates pressure points (for example at the hips and shoulder blades), which can lead to muscle tension, reduced circulation, and frequent waking during the night. On top of that, a lack of spinal support can make back pain worse rather than relieving it.
A medium-firm mattress is usually best because it supports the body while still adapting to its shape. It should contour the body, stabilize the spine, and distribute pressure evenly. This typically corresponds to a firmness of around 6.5/10 and the use of highly elastic materials (such as TPE polymers or HR foam).
Because the spine is not a straight structure. It has natural curves that need support. A mattress that is too firm does not adapt to the body and does not fill the gaps, for instance in the lower back area.
