Orthopedic pillows

Orthopedic pillow

How to choose an orthopedic pillow?

Decide whether you are interested in our innovative orthopedic pillows cast in molds, or in sleeping pillow models additionally enhanced with the cutting-edge ONSEN® GRID™ technology, available only from us.

Learn the differences between the technologies used. Then choose a pillow model based on your body type. Finally, pick a pillowcase that matches your needs.

1. Choose the technology

Both lines belong to the ONSEN® orthopedic pillow family, but they differ in how the material behaves and how contact with the body feels.

CLASSIC

ONSEN® technology

Orthopedic pillows made in the classic ONSEN® technology are cast entirely from high-resilience (HR) foam in specially prepared molds. This allows them to retain a precise, anatomical shape that genuinely adapts to the user's body.

It is a proven design, chosen by people who expect stable support and predictable sleep comfort without additional surface modifications.

What does it mean in practice?
  • a single-piece pillow construction with no extra layers
  • ergonomic support for the neck and head
  • feels more stable during sleep
Available pillow models: Asana, Enso, Hiro.
GRID™

ONSEN® Grid™ technology

Orthopedic pillows made with ONSEN® GRID™ technology are based on exactly the same design and the same HR foam core. The difference is an additional GRID™ layer on the surface of the pillow, but under the pillowcase.

This is a modern material with an open-cell structure in a hexagonal (honeycomb-like) shape, which affects how the pillow feels.

What does it mean in practice?
  • the same pillow inside, enhanced with an extra elastic layer
  • better airflow thanks to the open structure
  • strong support despite a sensation users describe as "sleeping on a cloud"
Available models: Asana GRID™, Enso GRID™, Hiro GRID™.

In short...

Classic is for you if you want a pillow made in our classic technology.

GRID™ is for you if you are interested in our latest ONSEN® GRID™ technology.

The foundation of both technologies is an orthopedic pillow made of high-resilience (HR) foam, produced by casting in three-dimensional molds.

2. Choose the pillowcase

With pillows in the classic technology, you can choose from three options.

For ONSEN® GRID™ pillows, only a dedicated pillowcase is available, designed specifically for that construction.

STANDARD PILLOWCASE

Standard

A classic pillowcase with a high fabric weight (450 g/m²) and multi-directional stretch, offering good breathability and durability. A proven, everyday solution focused on comfort and functionality.

What makes it stand out:

  • pleasant, neutral to the touch
  • stretchy and fits the pillow well
  • breathable structure that supports sleep comfort
  • solid construction for everyday use

The Standard pillowcase is a good choice if you want a proven, universal solution focused on everyday comfort - without additional technologies.

Composition: 99% polyester, 1% elastane

CURE™ PILLOWCASE

CURE™

An anti-allergy pillowcase with a high fabric weight (550 g/m²) and multi-directional stretch, enhanced with a technology designed to help reduce allergens. It offers good breathability and durability, with an added protective function.

What makes it stand out:

  • supports the reduction of allergens such as dust mites or pet dander
  • technology based on probiotic nanocapsules
  • pleasant, stretchy, and fits the pillow well
  • solid construction for everyday use

The CURE™ pillowcase is a good choice if you care about anti-allergy protection and a cleaner sleep environment.

Composition: 99% polyester, 1% elastane + probiotic nanocapsules

SKIN+™ PILLOWCASE

SKIN+™

A skin-friendly pillowcase with a high fabric weight (550 g/m²) and multi-directional stretch, enhanced with a technology designed to support skin condition. It offers good breathability and durability, and also improves comfort against the skin.

What makes it stand out:

  • supports the skin's natural balance and condition
  • technology based on nanocapsules that release probiotics
  • soft, pleasant, and gentle surface
  • stretchy and fits the pillow well

The SKIN+™ pillowcase is a good choice if you want maximum comfort and extra gentleness on the skin while you sleep.

Composition: 99% polyester, 1% elastane + probiotic nanocapsules

Important: If you choose a pillow with ONSEN® GRID™ technology, you do not need to compare pillowcases - this variant always comes with a dedicated pillowcase matched to that technology.

3. Choose the model

Each model comes in a Classic version, and now also in a GRID™ version. First decide which profile best matches your body type and sleeping position, and then choose the right technology.

Asana

An orthopedic pillow for people with an average body build. It is the most universal model and works well for most users. This orthopedic pillow can be used by people of average height and average weight who sleep on firm or medium-firm mattresses.

It provides perfectly balanced proportions, a medium height, and a classic anatomical profile. Thanks to that, it offers stable and comfortable support for side and back sleepers. It helps keep your head and neck in a stable position.

The orthopedic pillow is available as Asana and Asana GRID™.

Go to the selected version:
Asana orthopedic pillow specifications
Dimensions: approx. 62 cm (width) × approx. 38 cm (depth)
Height for side sleeping: approx. 10 cm
Height for back sleeping: approx. 4 cm
Firmness: medium-firm (approx. 27 newtons)
Who is the Asana pillow for?
  • people with an average body build
  • side and back sleepers
  • anyone looking for the most universal model

Hiro

An orthopedic pillow for people who need a larger format and a slightly different support geometry. It works especially well for people with a larger body build, broader shoulders, or greater height, sleeping on medium-firm or firm mattresses.

The longer and higher profile gives Hiro a clearly different character than Asana and Enso, offering more pronounced and firmer support for people with a bigger or more solid body build. It helps keep your head and neck in a stable position.

The orthopedic pillow is available as Hiro and Hiro GRID™.

Go to the selected version:
Hiro orthopedic pillow specifications
Dimensions: approx. 71 cm (width) × approx. 36 cm (depth)
Height for side sleeping: approx. 12 cm
Height for back sleeping: approx. 4 cm
Firmness: firm (approx. 28 newtons)
Who is the Hiro pillow for?
  • people with a larger or more solid body build
  • side and back sleepers who need higher support
  • users for whom the standard pillow height and firmness is not enough

Enso

An orthopedic pillow for people with a smaller body build, sleeping on soft or medium-firm mattresses. The side profile helps keep your head and neck properly aligned without excessive pressure, for people with narrower shoulders who need or prefer a softer support feel.

Enso has a higher profile combined with lower firmness, which results in more give under load. This helps the pillow conform to the body and reduces surface pressure.

The orthopedic pillow is available as Enso and Enso GRID™.

Go to the selected version:
Enso orthopedic pillow specifications
Dimensions: approx. 62 cm (width) × approx. 38 cm (depth)
Height for side sleeping: approx. 11 cm
Height for back sleeping: approx. 3 cm
Firmness: medium-soft (approx. 25 newtons)
Who is the Enso pillow for?
  • side and back sleepers who need solid but softer support
  • users who need or prefer a softer support feel
  • people for whom the firmness of Asana and Hiro pillows is too high

Who are ONSEN orthopedic pillows for?

This section describes the use of ONSEN orthopedic pillows, their benefits for the spine, recommended users, and their impact on comfort and sleep quality.

Our innovative ONSEN® orthopedic pillows are designed for people who want to improve their sleep quality while also taking effective care of their spine health. Thanks to the right profile and modern materials, our orthopedic sleeping pillows adapt to the body's natural curves, providing comfort and support in many situations.

  • Orthopedic pillows are ideal for people with neck, nape, and shoulder pain because they stabilize the head and reduce muscle tension.
  • They work great for side and back sleepers, helping maintain proper spine alignment throughout the night.
  • They are recommended for office workers and anyone who spends long hours sitting, as they support recovery after spinal strain.
  • They are an excellent choice for allergy sufferers because our orthopedic pillows are hypoallergenic and easy to keep clean.
  • They can be helpful during recovery or rehabilitation after injuries, supporting stabilization of the cervical spine.
  • They are also suitable for people focused on prevention who want to avoid future spine problems.
  • ONSEN® orthopedic pillows are also a great solution for people struggling with insomnia who are looking for deeper, more restorative sleep.

ONSEN® orthopedic pillows are an investment in health, comfort, and better wellbeing for many years. Regardless of age or lifestyle, everyone can find a pillow model matched to their needs to enjoy sleep without pain or discomfort. No matter which orthopedic sleeping pillow is right for you, ONSEN® is the best choice.

Orthopedic pillows for side and back sleeping

ONSEN® presents its orthopedic pillows, an innovative solution designed to deliver maximum comfort and support while you sleep. Our specialists have created a collection of orthopedic pillows for sleeping in every position to effectively meet a wide range of needs and to address health complaints linked to an improper sleeping posture. See for yourself how an orthopedic pillow can change your life for the better.

All of our orthopedic pillows are cast in molds, not cut from foam blocks. This makes it possible to achieve ergonomic shapes, turning them into anatomical pillows matched to the user's body. We developed them based on three-dimensional models that reflect every natural curve of the relevant body area. As a result, our orthopedic sleep pillows adapt to the shape of the neck and head and contour the body precisely, but without the excessive sink-in typical of memory foams. They owe this to the high-resilience foam we use, thanks to which every orthopedic sleeping pillow provides the right dynamics - and therefore proper support throughout the night. That is why ONSEN® orthopedic pillows are available in different variants, allowing them to be matched to each user's body type.

The body contouring provided by our spine-support pillows helps keep the spine and muscles relaxed all night long. Choosing the right new neck pillow therefore supports the health of the cervical spine. This is especially important for people looking for a pillow for reduced cervical lordosis, migraines, or disc problems, but also in many other cases. However, we dedicate them not only to people with health issues, as part of treatment and rehabilitation, but also to those looking for a preventive pillow that helps avoid future problems. That is why the pillows for your head we design and produce are a multifunctional, practical solution.

Thanks to the structure of the high-resilience foams we use, our orthopedic pillows enable effective air circulation, which helps prevent overheating and night sweats. This means our innovative orthopedic pillows provide higher comfort and better sleep hygiene. In addition, customer experience suggests they can increase the amount of deep sleep, which translates into better overnight recovery.

ONSEN® manufactures top-quality professional orthopedic pillows that support healthy, restful sleep. With our contoured pillows, you can finally sleep through the night without waking up with neck or head pain. For this reason, our unique orthopedic sleeping pillows have earned the trust of thousands of users across Europe. These are customers who confirm their effectiveness and top quality, helping build our brand community.

We also encourage you to explore our expert-prepared Encyclopedia of Healthy Sleep, which clearly explains the most important concepts related to sleep, health, and the buying process. We also invite you to read articles on our specialist blog covering sleep, psychology, medicine, and lifestyle. We will ask you a few questions and recommend the best orthopedic pillow for you.
For these questions,
the answer is
YES!
+

Are orthopedic pillows suitable for allergy sufferers? How should they be cleaned?

Our orthopedic pillows come with washable covers, making it easier to maintain hygiene. For allergy sufferers, hypoallergenic and breathable materials are recommended. Always follow the care label and user manual instructions.
+

Do orthopedic pillows really help with neck and cervical pain?

Orthopedic pillows stabilize the head and support the natural curves of the cervical spine, which can help reduce muscle tension and pain. The best results come with a well-chosen pillow height and shape, along with consistent adaptation.
+

How long does it take to get used to an orthopedic pillow, and when should it be replaced?

The body usually needs 3 to 14 nights to adjust to the new support, though sometimes it can take longer. You should consider replacing the pillow if you notice permanent deformations, a loss of resilience, or a return of discomfort - even when your sleeping posture is correct.
+

Which orthopedic pillow is best for side sleeping and which for back sleeping?

For side sleeping, a higher pillow is usually better, as it fills the space between the shoulder and the neck. However, it should have a special contour for the shoulder. For back sleeping, a slightly lower profile is ideal, supporting the neck without pushing the head upward. Contoured pillows with two different edge heights make it easier to adjust to your sleeping position.
+

Wie wählt man die Höhe eines orthopädischen Kissens passend zur Schulterbreite?

The broader the shoulders, the higher the edge of the pillow should be for side sleeping. A more petite frame usually requires a lower profile. In practice, follow a simple rule: When lying on your side, your head should stay aligned with your spine - not tilted upward or downward.
What distinguishes
ONSEN® pillows?
HR foam
The high-resilience HR foam used by us features an open-cell structure, offering excellent support for the body and spine. Thanks to its remarkable structure, it provides excellent ventilation, resulting from a high level of airflow and moisture wicking.
Expand
The high resilience HR foam used in ONSEN® products is an open-cell polyurethane foam in a Super Soft variant. It was selected through a design thinking process. The choice was based on conclusions developed during consultations with experts, as well as through designing, prototyping, and testing products using it.

This type of foam is characterized by high resilience. It also has unique properties that provide excellent dynamics, enhancing the functionality of mattresses or pillows. Moreover, our foams guarantee proper support for the body and spine, especially when sleeping on the side or back.

Advanced ventilation is possible due to the open-cell structure of the foams. It significantly differs from popular mattresses or pillows that mainly use memory foam, which causes overheating and sweating for many users.

The durability of our foams means that ONSEN® high resilience mattresses and orthopedic pillows come with up to a 15-year warranty. Additionally, we offer the possibility to return the order within 100 days and receive a full refund.
Perfect Shape
All ONSEN® highly elastic mattresses and orthopedic pillows have been designed with the participation of high-class specialists with extensive knowledge in the field of neurology, orthopedics, physiotherapy and psychology.
Expand
As scientific research results indicate, as many as 93% of the human population sleeps on their back or side. After analyzing the Polish market, ONSEN® specialists concluded that there is no orthopedic pillow available that would serve both these positions while maintaining the physiological alignment of the spine.

This led our team consisting of doctors, physiotherapists, a psychologist, designers, and technologists to create a universal, functional model of an orthopedic pillow. This model was then subjected to the prototyping process. After a long period of testing prototypes and making necessary adjustments, we managed to create designs of the best orthopedic pillows: Yoko, Asana, Enso, and Hiro.

Each of the ONSEN® orthopedic pillows allows for comfortable and healthy sleep on the side, as well as on the back. They differ in their construction due to their adaptation to different body types.

ONSEN® orthopedic pillows should be used by both people who do not experience any symptoms of cervical spine diseases, but place great importance on prevention, and those suffering from flattened cervical lordosis, discopathy, or spinal degeneration
Skin+ Technology
The cover for orthopedic and classic pillows made in the Skin+ technology is enriched with the patented probiotic Bacillus indicus PD01.
Expand
All orthopedic pillows, as well as pillowcases and sheets, are offered in the Skin+ version. The Skin+ fabric is a innovative product enriched with nanocapsules containing the patented probiotic Bacillus indicus PD01.

The action of the probiotic Bacillus indicus PD01 softens the skin and has proven anti-aging effects. The nanocapsules filled with the probiotic Bacillus indicus PD01 are embedded in the fibers of the fabric and open upon contact with the skin.

The effect of the bacteria Bacillus indicus PD01 is the production of natural lycopene, which belongs to carotenoids. These protect the skin from excessive exposure to sunlight and at the same time maintain a higher level of moisture. Additionally, its antioxidant properties allow for slowing down the aging processes of the skin.

Orthopedic pillows, pillowcases, and sheets made with Skin+ technology result in significantly smoother, rejuvenated, and brighter skin. For many people, it works like an anti-wrinkle cream, addressing issues related to excessive drying and flaking of the skin.

Nanocapsules with the probiotic Bacillus indicus PD01 remain in the Skin+ fabric for up to 20 washes at temperatures up to 40 °C.
