In Poland, mattress firmness is still commonly classified as H1, H2, H3, H4, or even H5. Although this classification is popular, it is imprecise and lacks standardization. Mattress firmness should be defined on a numerical scale that translates into physical values, taking into account the actual properties of materials and their impact on sleep ergonomics.
 

The key factor in selecting mattress firmness should not be the user's weight but their preferred sleeping position, which affects the distribution of pressure points. The traditional H1-H5 scale often suggests that heavier individuals should choose firmer mattresses and lighter ones softer options.
