The healthiest mattress for sleeping is a foam mattress that has multiple layers of high-resilience foam with appropriate firmness and density. It is recommended to have a layer of viscoelastic foam in the second layer of the mattress, with an efficient ventilation system underneath. With the right design, such a mattress will provide optimal support for the spine and ensure the highest comfort during sleep.
For a good mattress in the size of 140x200 cm, you should expect to pay at least 3000 PLN (~650 euros). For a good mattress in the size of 160x200 cm, the price can reach up to 4000 PLN (~850 euros). Cheaper mattresses often do not provide sufficient quality. At the same time, mattresses offered at prices above 6000 PLN are too expensive, and their price likely consists mostly of profit margin. It is important to familiarize yourself with the pricing structure of the mattress and always question overly large discounts.
The most comfortable mattresses are high-resilience mattresses, which are mainly made of open-cell high-resilience foams (HR). For proper mattress fitting and optimal comfort, a layer of memory foam (V) should be placed in the second layer, along with an active ventilation system. The most comfortable mattresses have a universal firmness that falls between 6 and 7 on a 10-point scale.
When choosing a mattress, you should pay attention primarily to the type of material it is made of. In addition, special attention should be paid to the firmness and density ratings. Many sellers refuse to disclose the parameters of the materials used in mattress production, covering them with proprietary names for foams or claiming company secrets, but disclosing these parameters is the obligation of the entrepreneur. It is also important to pay attention to the firmness of the mattress, its cover, and the warranty conditions.
Foam mattresses are definitely better, as pocket spring mattresses are unable to provide proper body support and spinal alignment. Additionally, spring mattresses tend to make noise, transfer motion, and are flexible only vertically. Once the springs are compressed, they will not return to their original shape. Of course, not every foam mattress is good. It is important to avoid those that are made of closed-cell polyurethane foams (T) or have memory foam (V) in the top layer. The labeling of foam parameters used in each layer of such a mattress is crucial.
